From a marketing/selling perspective I agree with most of the other posters in that the cover is SO important!
When I am browsing magazines in a store or even online shopping, I am definately attracted to a striking and bold cover.
A recent example is Rue Morgue magazine issue 90. This vibrant, retro-style cover totally convinced me to buy that particular issue.
