A high quality free site I use in my design work is www.sxc.hu The pictures are high resolution print quality. They also link to istock and stockxchange.
Another print quality source is Morguefile.com These are more amateur photos.
Still, I'm finding that the pay sites due tend to have exactly the right image.

I don't plan to purchase a lot from Getty. I need to read their Terms a little more as well.
I have access as a student, but I wouldn't want to violate any of the Terms of Use.

I also have used sxc.hu with great results, but usually prefer iStock photos. iStock carries flash animations for your website use too.
