WE ARE STARTING A MAGAZINE - ARE YOU SAM?

I'm running a nostalgia magazine about cars. A small niche product, but with some really great pieces/stories.

Lately I've noticed that one of the biggest car magazines in my country are basically "copying" some of the stories in my magazine.

They are rewriting it in their own words, but it's basically the same stories. Lets say that I have a piece in february then the story ususally turns up in their magazine a couple of issues later. I think it would have been a different story if they would have waited a bit longer.

I know I can't stop them, but I would like to know what you think about this.

Some people say imitation is the highest form of flattery...but personally I don't think so with this case. I'd be pissed! If I could identify any form of direct plagiarism I think I'd call it out...
I agree! I don't see it as flattering, it just pisses me off!

But at the same time it's so hard to draw the line. When are people imitating you!? I think that they are basically rewriting my stories.

But it would be a very hard accusation to make! And I guess it could mean legal consequences if I’m not careful.

It sucks - write about how great the Yugo is and see if they copy it.
I have decided to tell my readers know what's going on in the next issue without naming anyone

Should mean that some people will face some shame if they overstep the limit of what's ok!?
