WE ARE STARTING A MAGAZINE - ARE YOU SAM?

you posted in response to another post of mine about you sales rep making calls monthly and having a success ration of about 25% I am trying to basically work the numbers and use this guide to set my goals so I wanted to ask a question. When you said your rep makes about 200 calls a month do you only count calls she made that resulted in her talking to the decision maker or do you cound the amount of actuall call's that to me seems to be different because of my exp. I made 30 calls yesterday for example and only reached 5 people.. So I am just trying to find out if you guys would consider that 30 calls or 5 calls. To me seemed like just 5

Please give me you input or advise based on how you do it. Thnx in advance for all you help.

That's a good question. I'll have to check on that. I would say that it includes everyone. I know my rep leaves messages. Also she emails a lot of people. Another reason she does well is she goes to businesses and directly talks to people and shows them the magazine as well as goes to networking meetings. BNI, chambers, etc.

Everytime you make a presentation from start to finish to a final decision maker....that counts as a pitch. Emailing, faxing, sending something in writing, going by a store, mailing something is NOT a call or pitch.

Call your ass off from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm and see how many pitches you have. Some days you may have 1....some you may have 20 depending on your urgency and size of the company. There is now free or cheap software that can easily record how many dials you may make. If you use internet calling that is already done for you. Pitches to decision makers are all that counts. Pitching the assistant to the assistant marketing director is NOT a pitch. A pitch is only to a final decision maker. If not sure if they are the final decision maker....ask them..."Are you the final decision maker?"

Obviously you need lots of dials to reach lots of decision makers. You also need great pitches to get more sales. So....lots of dials=more sales.
