WE ARE STARTING A MAGAZINE - ARE YOU SAM?

I have a question about ad placement. We have an article about relationships from a psychologist, along with her ad. The publisher wants to place her ad on the same page as her article but I think that takes away from the article and ends up looking like an advertorial instead. Is there any research or a good argument you can help me form to steer the publisher away from grouping people's ads with their articles?

You're right on saying that causes the editorial to look like advertorial. In the end, your ad contracts should say that its up to the publisher to make these kinds of decisions. You can't let your advertisers direct your magazine. Just talk to her about it and let her know its for her benefit that you're not doing that.

I want some advice on how to deal with a printing disaster that just occurred to me.
I ordered my magazines to be shipped in cartons, but they somehow left the plant without being put in cartons and were instead shrink wrapped. During the delivery process, the pallets collapsed ruining a good majority of the magazines. I had to hire people to rent a forklift to get the magazines off the truck, as well as pay for their time to get these off of the truck. The printing company sent over boxes to help with this disaster, but instead of sending them overnight they sent them ground. All in all, i've lost a huge amount of time, I had to move the release of the next magazine back, (I'm a one person show basically). Any advice on how to deal with this situation? Is this common for something like this to happen? Any advice would be extremely helpful.
