WE ARE STARTING A MAGAZINE - ARE YOU SAM?

I am starting a new magazine for my local community, I want to use a template in pagemaker or indesign or quarck. I don't mind paying up to $200, but I just need something I can hit the ground running with, where the layout is already done for me, and I can just play around with it and add content. Does anybody know where i can find this on the net?

Cheers,

Jane.

To be honest, templates aren't really available in things like Quark or InDesign. The functions of these programs are as sophisticated as layout programs go. While you can purchase a template, a person who knows how to already use these programs would be able to just as easy create it themselves.

If this is more of a newsletter, you may be interested in programs like iWork for the Apple OSX. It has prebuilt templates that are fairly easy to manipulate for anyone with some gorgeous templates.

You can also look around for someone to design you a template.

I'm a freelance designer and I've designed templates for other people in the past.

Personally I wouldn't use a template. I find that starting fresh every time allows more flexibility in the design process.

Not saying that templates don't have their place. This is just a personal preference. If someone wants to use a template or requests that I design a template for them instead of designing their magazine every month, I'll definitely help them out.

Well done templates do help you to get started and understand how a magazine is built. I found this website and downloaded 2 templates myself. http://www.magazine-templates.com/ Great variety and impressive design.

I agree with shawnster! Having a designer design your magazine is much more effective than using a template that is being sold over and over. At the least have a template custom created for your magazine it would worth it rather than paying for a template that everyone is downloading.
