WE ARE STARTING A MAGAZINE - ARE YOU SAM?

Ive got my hands on the trial version of InDesign and have been playing around with it to see how it works and so on. The one thing i dont understand about it is the page set up sizing, when i go new the sizing is displayed as something like, Width: 51p0 and Height:66p0 (Pre-settings for letter). what i want to know is what all that means, i have a lot of experience with photoshop and design in general (about 3 years).

Also if someone could direct me to a website with tutorials maybe that would help me a lot too. thanks.

All help is appreciated.

InDesign's default setup is to use picas instead of inches. You can change the measurement to inches by opening InDesign, clicking edit at the top of the screen, then click on Units and Increments under the preferences option. Then in the window that opens, select inches in both the horizontal and vertical drop down menus.

Or you could also right click on the page ruler and click on the inches option rather than the picas.
