Lester is currently a writer/blogger for several websites and publications including BET.com News. Lester is responsible for providing content for the News You Can Use section of the website as well as reporting original content pertaining to the African-American experience .
Lester was staff writer for the Journal Newspapers of Michigan, LLC. based in Wayne, MI. where he covered subjects ranging from candidates seeking elective office to the Senior Olympics. Lester also was a a freelance contributor to the Detroit Free Press/Detroit.Metromix.com where he focuses stories on local entertainment and events. Lester's professional experience includes a diverse array of publications including Real Detroit Weekly, UrbanFlavor.com. ImAHugeDeal.com as well as the historic New Pittsburgh Courier in his hometown of Pittsburgh, PA as well as and the Xenia Daily Gazette in Xenia, OH.
With such a diverse background Lester is able to cover virtually any type of story with professionalism and maturity while asking probing and serious questions in an effort to “get to the story”. Some of his high profile interviews and story subjects among others include multi-million platinum artists, actors and entertainers such as Rihanna, Chuck-D, Three 6 Mafia, Russell Simmons, Kimora Lee-Simmons, Mixmaster Ice of U.T.F.O, M.C Lyte Doug E. In addition to his print success, Lester is now a co-host on the highly successful Internet radio program, Huge Deal Radio in which he has interviewed such people as Kevin Powell, former Michigan State Rep. Lamar Lemmons and hip-hop artist Joe Budden, Lil Cease, Murphy Lee and Twista to name a few.
In addition to being a journalist, Lester is a highly-sought speaker and mentor who served his community as a member of KEYS (Knowledge to Empower Youth to Success) Service Corps, an AmeriCorps program, where he helped coordinate an after-school tutoring program. After completing the program, Lester was brought on as hired staff and served in that capacity (while freelance reporting) for three years.
Lester is a proud graduate of Wilberforce University, the nation’s first Historically Black College/University. At Wilberforce Lester earned a B.A in Mass Media/Communications with an emphasis on print journalism. Lester also earned a minor in Music and was a member of the internationally renowned Wilberforce University Choir, which made appearances on the Today Show and Vibe.
Lester is also a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, the first Greek-Letter organization for African-Americans.
