Funny how the universe works. I just finished publishing WE Magazine for Women's Summer Issue and was surfing the web for an affordable and easy to use program to upload my magazine in flip page technology.
You see we just redesigned our website and with the relaunch wanted to also offer the flip page as a new "addition" to our family of offerings.
While surfing the net for options, in my inbox came a message from Penny Haynes announcing her newest venture. If you have not heard of Penny Haynes, she is the founder of the International Podcast Expo. She is also a software developer and video and audio expert.
Her new site is called RssZine - http://www.tinyurl.com/rsszine and it is fantastic!
Not only does it convert pdf books and magazines to flip pages, it also converts blogs to ebooks in a new technology I have never seen. You can take any blog or podcast feed (or multiple feeds combined) to create saleable ebooks or promotional material!
Here is a sample of her work: http://www.rsszine.com/samples/SpringSummer2009/ (our latest issue).

Penny and her team are easy to work with and the price is right. In fact,
Penny is offering members of SAM a 10% discount using the following code when you check out: sam10percent
What I really like about her service is that you can sign up for only what you need. There are no monthly fees OR admin fees. You send the ebook to her and she does the rest. Quite simple really. And you pay per issue. For me, this was a dream come true because we publish quarterly and it can get expensive when you pay for the technology by the month.
Some of the benefits of flip-page include:
Offering your readers options for viewing
You can include links that will play audio and video files
Reduce your printing costs
Environmentally friendly
Increase ad revenue
Drive traffic to your website
Real-time statistics when you add Google analytics to the mix
Increase your reach to a more tech savvy audience
Flip magazines are clickable throughout same as pdf
Your readers can convert the flip book to pdf
Readers can print it out in its entirety or one page at a time
And the back-end support is exceptional
You can check it out at
http://www.tinyurl.com/rsszine (my personal link).
In fact, I have already told two of my online magazine publishing colleagues each of which has signed up!
If you have any questions about RssZine, feel free to email me at heidi (at) wemagazineforwomen(dot)com.
Best of luck with your digital and print magazines and thank you to Magazine Launch and SAM for a great forum.
Warmest regards,
Heidi Richards Mooney, Publisher & Editor in Chief
